Christmastime is here.

2:45 PM

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones you come to expect here in Ontario. However, it's 12 degrees Celsius and snow seems to be out of the question as our nights are supposed to be 13!
In the spirit of gratitude (it is Christmas after all), I am super thankful that we can travel this year without stressing about crazy weather. We also get to survive being in our kitchen without the risk of frost bite :) Our hydro and gas bills seem to be cheering on a green Christmas. Christmas is such a fun time for me regardless of snow. I don't really venture outdoors much over the winter anyways. A nice cozy house all decorated and filled with carols, chocolate and loved ones is enough to get me in the Christmas spirit. I say that not out of naivety towards those who are hurting during the holidays. My family lost all three grandpa's in the month of December while I was growing up. This time of year can be challenging and have mixed emotions for me because so much of the joy of the holidays centers around children, and I can find myself in a daze when I look at my life and how different it looks than I ever expected. I sympathize for those who hurt and grieve this year, and yet, I know we all have something good to focus on...something to be thankful for. And so even if this season isn't what you thought it would be, or it doesn't look like how you'd imagine, it is here all the same. The best we can all do is fill ourselves with joy and gratitude for what we have.

Here are some photos from Emberly House this holiday. I somehow gapped on getting a full shot of our tree. It's beautiful! We went fake this year as I like to put our tree up in mid-November and don't like it being brown come Christmas...lol. We found a 9 ft stunner at Bradford Greenhouse Garden Gallery that will last us for many years to come. I'll take some better mid-range and wide shots tomorrow to show you more of the Christmas decor set-up :)

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a great holiday.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."
Luke 2:10-11
